This corner of south west Ayrshire is renowned for its unspoilt scenery and particularly mild climate throughout the year. The area is the perfect spot for the outdoor enthusiast. There are excellent golf courses, the world famous Turnberry is close by and there are also 18-hole courses nearby. There are the usual field sports, excellent rivers for fishing, and superb routes for walking. Ayrshire offers a varying coastline with villages, beaches and rocky coves to explore. Inland there is walking, gardens, castles to visit, riding and racing. Within ½ mile the Heads of Ayr Farm Park and swimming pool, and facilities at Craig Tara Park for a good day out. Culzean Castle (owned by the National Trust for Scotland) is spectacular and is Ayrshire’s most popular tourist attraction. The surrounding country park (extending over 550-acres) has a network of wooded trails passing along the beach. Craft shows, country dancing and walks spotting fungi are attractions hosted during the year. Day trips to Ireland can be taken from Stranraer, whilst a drive north leads to Ayr, a traditional seaside town. Glasgow/Prestwick airport is 20 miles.
